- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups apples, peeled and chopped
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat together the butter and granulated sugar until creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine the chopped apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Spread the apple mixture over the dough in the baking dish.
- Crumble the remaining dough over the top of the apple layer.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
